Exhibited at the 2024 DesignTO Festival.

This window installation pays homage to the groundbreaking work of Sanzo Wada (1883-1967), whose ‘A Dictionary of Color Combinations’ offers a unique glimpse into traditional Japanese colour perceptions.

In ‘Beyond Wada in Bloom’, Wada’s colour combinations are taken to new heights - quite literally. The installation transforms the Promise Supply windows, a local plant shop, into a mesmerizing experience, embracing the vibrancy of Promise Supply’s organic offerings. Foliage and flora is mirrored with a corresponding colour swatches from Wada’s book, manifesting as large-scale cutouts that delicately dangle and suspend from the ceiling in a cascade of colour. As festival-goers stroll by, the suspended hues dance and transform, echoing the mood-elevating power of both colour and nature amidst urban winters.
